🟧 TERM 1: Weeks 1–3
1. Plan and Achieve Life Goals
- Definition of goals: Specific plans or outcomes a person wants to achieve.
- Types of goals: Short-term (days/weeks), Medium-term (months), Long-term (years)
- SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-based
- Five-step method: Write the goal → Check if it's SMART → Create an action plan → Carry out the plan → Evaluate progress
2. Problem-Solving Skills
- Define the problem
- Gather information
- List possible solutions
- Evaluate consequences
- Choose the best solution
3. Values, Choices and Goals
- Values guide decisions and goal setting (e.g. honesty, education, family)
- Connection between personal values and life choices
🟧 TERM 1: Weeks 2–3
4. Relationships and Their Influence
- Types: Family, peer, romantic, professional
- Influences: Emotional support, self-esteem, decision-making
- Healthy traits: Respect, trust, honesty
5. Negative Relationships
- Harmful factors: Power imbalance, abuse, lack of respect
- Rights and responsibilities in all relationships
- Cultural & media influence on values and expectations
🟦 TERM 2: Weeks 1–4
6. Unequal Power Relations and Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
- Forms of GBV: Domestic violence, Emotional/physical abuse, Sexual harassment, Femicide
- Causes: Patriarchy, stereotypes, sexism, social norms, abuse of power
7. Impact of GBV
- Emotional, physical, psychological trauma
- Damage to families and communities
- Strain on healthcare and justice systems
8. Prevention & Support
- Campaigns: 16 Days of Activism, educational outreach
- Support: NGOs, counselling, safe houses
- Legal protections and rights under the Constitution
🟨 TERM 3: Weeks 1–5
9. Healthy and Balanced Lifestyle
- Aspects: Physical (exercise, nutrition), Emotional (stress management), Social (support networks), Spiritual (purpose, beliefs)
- Positive Influences: Role models, cultural identity, supportive relationships
- Negative Influences: Peer pressure, poverty, substance abuse
10. Risky Behaviour
- Unsafe sex, drug use, reckless behaviour, poor hygiene
- Consequences: STIs, unplanned pregnancy, emotional trauma
